Will it survive a hot car in summer?

This is exactly where adhesive mounts give up — the glue softens and the whole thing slides down the windshield into the footwell.
A vacuum is mechanical, not chemical, so there's nothing in it to melt. After a long day in the sun, lift the lever and re-seat it once; two seconds, and the full grip is back.

Will it fit my phone and my case?

iPhones with built-in magnets and MagSafe cases snap straight on with nothing extra.
Everything else — Samsung, Pixel, foldables, any plain case — uses the metal plate included in the box. Stick the plate to the case rather than the phone and you keep wireless charging.
Very thick or rugged cases, and anything with a pop socket already on the back, will weaken the hold.

What can I stick it to?

Anything smooth, flat and non-porous: the windshield, a side window, a flat piano-black dash panel, a mirror, tile, or a desk.
What it won't hold on: textured or leather-grain dashboards, perforated speaker panels, curved trim, or fabric. A vacuum needs a seal and those surfaces don't give it one — use the glass instead.

Will it damage my dashboard or windshield?

No. There's no adhesive involved, so there's nothing to leave behind — lift the release tab and it comes away clean.
That's also why it moves between cars in seconds, and why it's fine in a lease or a rental.

The suction feels weaker than it did. Is it dead?

Almost never. Dust on the cup is what breaks the seal, not wear.
Rinse it under warm water, let it air-dry on its own — don't towel it — and the tack comes straight back. Do that every few weeks and the cup will outlast the car.

Does it charge my phone?

No, and that's deliberate — it's why this one is small enough to pocket and light enough to forget about.
